Westbury, NY (Wednesday, May 4, 2022) – Electro Industries/GaugeTech (EIG) announced its Nexus® 1500+ advanced power quality meter with PMU functionality has won the Metering & Monitoring Equipment category of EC&M’s 2022 Product of the Year competition. This is the fourth year in a row that EIG products have been named a category winner in this awards program.

The EC&M Product of the Year competition has recognized outstanding and innovative design for electrical products since 2001. Being named category winner is industry recognition of the Nexus® 1500+ power quality meter’s uniqueness and superiority. The meter now supports phasor measurement unit (PMU) capabilities for use in utility grid stability measurements. Acting as a PMU, it provides instantaneous voltage and current phasors, frequency, and other measurements, time synchronized to either IEEE 1588 PTP or IRIG-B sources. The meter’s synchrophasor capability fits both P and M classes and offers two simultaneous communication sessions.

In addition to PMU synchrophasor support, the Nexus® 1500+ meter now has EIG’s most advanced security technology – Resilient Cyber SecurityTM. Features of this technology include 128-bit encrypted configuration, role-based authorization that supports eight configurable roles, password fail timeouts, security lock, an encrypted digital firmware signature with 512-bit encryption, and key based topology.
