A Brief History on Electro Industries
An excerpt from our site: “Electro Industries/GaugeTech celebrated its 40th birthday in 2015. It seems like just yesterday that we launched our first digital power meter. Over the last 40+ years we have grown in size and capability through our dedication to excellence, responsiveness to our customers’ needs, and pursuit of innovation.”
Founded in 1975 by engineer and inventor Sam Kagan. Electro Industries / GaugeTech changed the face of power monitoring technology. He introduced a breakthrough easy-to-use AC power meter that was affordable to consumers. Sam believed that this industry needed a solid state meter. One that could communicate data and provide engineers the ability to make power management decisions. Because of EIG’s early DOS software and microprocessor-based meters released in the late 70’s were incorporated world-wide. Here are examples of orders placed in the 1970s.
EIG strives to be on the cutting edge, here are a few noteworthy firsts of advancing technology applied to our inventions.
- 81′, EIG released one of the world’s first micro processor based power monitors.
- 94′, the first 1 megabyte memory high-performing power monitor was released. The standard home PC had 4 megabytes of ram at the time.
- 2001, the first automatic calibrating meter under glass debuted.
- 2005, the first sub-meter with WiFi capabilities surfaced.
- 2012, the Shark® 100B multifunction power and energy meter with native BACnet/IP was released.
40+ years later, Electro Industries/GaugeTech continues to revolutionize the industry. Producing the highest quality, cutting edge power monitoring, and control technology on the market. EIG sets the industry standard for advanced power quality and reporting. EIG also takes part in revenue metering and substation data acquisition and control. EIG’s products can be found on-site at almost all of today’s leading manufacturers, industrial giants and utilities. EIG’s ongoing success is due to the pursuit of innovation, strengthening relationships with customers, employees, suppliers and communities.
Users worldwide depend on EIG power meters to monitor power information within substations, industrial facilities and commercial buildings. Give us a call at 866-928-7908 to learn more about our offerings and to find out how we can help saving you money today!
