Portable vs. Permanent Power Monitoring Systems
The type of power monitoring system your business will need is dependent largely on your motive for using one. Long-term reasons, such as cost-savings and environmental impact, call for a permanently installed system that delivers ongoing data, constantly helping you pinpoint room for improvement. Of course, a major component of achieving cost-savings and establishing eco-friendly energy practices includes understanding the data and then actually implementing change. Power quality and efficiency is a multi-step process.
Of course, businesses who have not invested in the installation of a permanent power monitoring system for one reason or another still have power diagnostic needs. In order to isolate and troubleshoot power system disturbances in grids not permanently monitored, a portable power quality analyzer, such as our PDA 1252, will come into play. Real-time data can still be delivered in simpler formats via advanced analysis software like our Communicator EXT™ application. In fact, our free (LITE) version allows you to configure and program any EIG meter. To find and group all meters on a network, the professional version is required.
