Westbury, NY (Friday, September 15, 2017) – Electro Industries/GaugeTech (EIG) announces the release of a translation interface module (TIM) that enables the Shark® 270 meter to support Itron’s MV-90 system. The TIM was developed by Itron in partnership with EIG.

The Shark® 270 revenue energy meter mounts into a standard ANSI form meter enclosure. This 0.2% Class meter provides extensive load profiling, I/O, and power quality recording. In addition to communication for meter readings, the Shark 270 has extensive SCADA output capability including DNP 3.0 and IEC 61850 protocols. The meter communicates data via a multitude of ports including RS485, Ethernet, USB and ANSI optical.

MV-90 has been widely used for over 30 years, and is installed in over 600 utilities. It is used to collect interval data that Electrical utilities typically use to measure electrical parameters for billing and load profiling. MV-90 supports interval meters from multiple vendors. The TIM for the Shark® 270 meter enables this meter to be used in any utility’s existing or new MV-90 installation.
