#5. Toyota Prius

The Prius is one of the most well known electric vehicles, it’s no surprise it has made this list. This is based off the 2017 Toyota Prius Three Touring model. The Prius currently is at 54/50 mpg, but tests have shown 46 mpg being achievable. Top speed is at 114 mph for this car, with 121 horsepower, and 0 – 60 in 10.5 seconds. Seating is comfortable and fold down at the rear for 66 cu feet of cargo room. A solid and eco friendly automobile.

#4. Toyota Prius Prime

With a four-cylinder gas engine and electric motors, it has a bigger battery life versus the regular Prius. This is based off of the 2017 Toyota Prius Prime Advanced Plug-In Hybrid. It has up to 25 miles of electric only range. It’s MPGe is at 133. It’s top speed is 101 mph and has 121 horsepower. It does 0 to 60 in 10.2 seconds. The Prius Prime is stated to feel, “nimble, smooth on taking curves; it’s steering is among the best.” – Car And Driver With two cars having a fantastic rating, the standard Prius and Prius Prime, it’s safe to say either car is a safe bet for going green.

#3. Chevrolet Volt

This gasoline-hybrid offers fantastic acceleration compared to most electrics. The all electric range of this model is 53 miles, after the electricity is use, the gas engine kicks in and recharges the cars battery to keep things moving. In testing, the car reached 59 MPGe. The charge time is around 13hours on 120v and 4.5 on 240v. This car goes from 0 – 60 in 7.5 seconds and has a top speed of 102 miles per hour. The car holds five, but the seat in the middle is said to be useless, which is what lowers this car’s rank just a tad.

#2. Volkswagen e-Golf

The Volkswagen 2018 model is a best car winner and coming in at an affordable price (typically around 31k). There is an estimated 126 electric mile range combined with 119 mile with fuel economy.
